The Wilt J. Hildenbrand Jr. Scholarship Fund honors the legacy of Wilt Hildenbrand, who passed away unexpectedly in 2018 at the age of 70 after a remarkable 40-year career in the Cablevision organization. This fund aims to raise $40,000 annually through 2023, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting the college education of children of fallen soldiers. By contributing to this fund or applying for a scholarship, you help preserve Wilt’s memory while fostering a diverse and dynamic workforce that will shape the future of our industry and enhance the impact of technology on society. In addition, the Wilt J. Hildenbrand Jr. Rising Leader Award managed by the SCTE Foundation is given at SCTE TechExpo each year.

Doug Semon ‘Zelmo’ Scholarship Supporting Grants for FIRST®

Technology pioneer Doug Semon, beloved husband of 2010 WIT honoree Leslie Ellis, passed away unexpectedly in 2020. He had a successful career in the cable industry and was a dedicated mentor for George Washington High School’s FRC Team 1410, "The Kraken," supporting the FIRST Robotics program in Denver. To honor Doug’s legacy, the SCTE Foundation, in partnership with past SCTE/WICT Women in Technology Award honorees, established this fund to inspire young science and technology leaders. Grants can be awarded to active high school FIRST teams nominated by professionals in the broadband industry.

The Sally Kinsman Scholarship is a heartfelt tribute to our beloved friend, Sally Kinsman. Established to honor her memory and passions, this scholarship provides annual opportunities for recipients who otherwise could not afford to participate in events and initiatives that Sally cherished, such as Pioneer dinner tickets and TechExpo. When you contribute to the Sally Kinsman Scholarship, your donation directly supports the General Fund, allowing us to create enriching experiences. Each year, applicants will have the chance to receive funding for activities that embody Sally’s spirit and commitment to industry engagement.

By contributing to the Disaster Support Fund, you play a crucial role in empowering our mission to provide hope and resilience in times of crisis. Together, we can ensure that the broadband industry remains strong and connected, ready to support communities when they need it most.

Legacy/Custom Named Fund

An individual or business can create a lasting impact with a legacy or named fund.  A minimum contribution of just $20,000 for individuals allows you to begin your journey, while you also have the option to pledge a larger amount as a business, such as $200,000. Choose between making a one-time donation or committing to a structured giving plan, such as $20,000 annually over five years. Rest assured, your investment will be expertly managed, funding innovative projects that drive progress in the broadband sector. Start building your legacy today!

PLEASE NOTE: All applicants and recipients agree that the SCTE Foundation shall have all rights to prior review and approval of any and all proposed publicity concerning this grant; and grant to the SCTE Foundation any and all rights to publicize applicants’ and recipients’ name, city of residence/employment, employer, educational institution, and type of grant.

The SCTE Foundation reserves the right to discontinue, modify or withhold any payments if it deems, in the SCTE Foundation’s sole discretion, such action is necessary: (1) because Grantee has not fully complied with the terms and conditions of a grant; (2) to protect the purpose and objectives of a grant or any other charitable activities of the SCTE Foundation; or (3) to comply with any law or regulation applicable to the Grantee, to the SCTE Foundation, or a grant.
